If there’s one thing that the popularity of beer in Mumbai has taught us, it is the fact that Mumbai absolutely loves a good beer.


In the city, you are most likely to find beer at almost every pub or bar, but somehow most of these just do not cut it. Luckily, the city is home to some of the best breweries in the country, and they’re doing a fabulous job at crafting them. If you are looking to enjoy a good tipple in Mumbai, these are the best breweries to enjoy craft beer in the city. 


1. TOIT


Located in Lower Parel, the place is always crowded in the evenings. You’ll often find the young working crowd of Parel hopping in to grab a quick mug of beer, post working hours. The brewery has a relaxing ambience, they play old school retro music for most days, and serve a fun lineup of beer on tap. You can choose between small, large glasses or pick a tower if going with friends or colleagues. Top picks here are the Basmati Blonde, Dark Knight, and the Bavarian Wheat Ale. They do have special flavours of brewed beer, often, but it is not on the menu. You’ll have to check with the bartender for availability.

2. Effingut


 

A new brewery in Mumbai, Effingut in Colaba does a good lineup of brewed beers. They have their brewery in Pune, and serve nine craft beers on tap. You can take your pick from Ciders, Stouts, and Ales. They also have a decent selection of whiskeys and other alcoholic beverages. To go with the beer, they have an impressive menu of bar and finger foods, that are delightfully delicious.

3. Doolally Taproom, Andheri



Doolally Taproom is a great place to sample on brewed beer. It has a relaxed ambience, friendly staff and a good selection of brewed beer. Savour Marzen, Dunkle, English Brown Ale, and a host of other beers on tap. The clean and spacious interiors makes  Doolally Taproom a popular hangout spot for young beer drinkers and the working crowd, who come by the dozens, post-work hours to savour their favourite ale. If you have time on your hands, place a board game or two, its a great way to relax and unwind.

4. Brewbot Eatery and Pub Brewery 




Brewbot Eatery and Pub Brewery opens in the evening and is a favourite hang out spot for those working and living in and around the Reclamation area of Bandra. The brewery prides itself on stocking a wide selection of home-brewed beers, namely, Botwork Orange – a Belgian Wit, Mojo Rising - Midwestern Pale Ale, Indian Pale Ale styled Draft Punk, and a delicious apple cider cutely called Outcider. The food on the menu compliments the beer selection and the decor is just what you would expect from a laid back, relaxed brewery.

5. British Brewing Company



There’s nothing like watching your favourite sports team take to the field on a giant screen, with a beer in hand. That is what you will get at the British Brewing Company at the Oberoi Mall in Goregaon. The brewery/pub has a fine selection of craft beers to choose from in pitcher or glass sizes. The food on the menu is an interesting mix of Indian and European Continental cuisines.

6. Independence Brewing Company



The Independence Brewing Company in Mumbai serves craft beers across several global brew styles. This is one of the reasons why the place is a popular hangout spot for suburban Mumbaikars. Interesting brews include the self-explanatory Blueberry Pie and Raspberry Porter, and Ixcacao – which includes cocoa nibs and bourbon vanilla.

7. Gateway Taproom
